Subject: Laos recognised for its ecotourism website
Wednesday, October 10, 2007

The Laos National Tourism Administration has received an award from
Planeta.com for its website www.ecotourismlaos.com that has been
recognised for its standout ability to promote ecotourism.  The “2007
Ecotourism Spotlight Award” is awarded by Planeta.com to a government
website on an annual basis, and Planeta.com visitors voted for the
website this year because of its maps, listings, manuals and
brochures.

“The site makes it easy to do research on ecotourism in Laos," said
one online voter.

"The site stresses the cultural diversity of the country and how
travellers can visit in a sustainable manner," said another voter.

"We wanted to create an incentive for improved communications from
government portals. This award allows us to highlight best practices
and show other managers of government websites how to showcase
operations that are striving towards sustainability and ecotourism,"
said Planeta.com.
